Back in 2005, owner Trevor Dickerson, a Richmond native and then high school student at Deep Run in Glen Allen, saw a website address etched in stone on the entrance to the Downtown Short Pump entertainment complex on West Broad Street in the Far West End. Dickerson visited the website, the registration of which name had been allowed to lapse by the shopping center owner. Without much thought, he purchased the domain for $8.95, using it briefly as a personal photo sharing website before an idea hit him.
Later that year, Dickerson started compiling restaurant and shopping information about the surrounding area, in hopes to create a site that centralized news, shopping and dining information for Short Pump in one place. Over the course of the next several years, Downtown Short Pump grew exponentially and now posts over 35,000 unique monthly visitors and is regarded as the definitive source for staying on the up and up of happenings in the Far West End.
By chance, one regular reader to the site contacted Dickerson, impressed with the design and layout Dickerson had rendered for Downtown Short Pump and asked if he could redesign his then budding business news website– the now highly-regarded online publication Richmond BizSense.
From there, other website development opportunities emerged and since then, other media services to complement web design have been added as the company has expanded.
